When I was building my company, I spent quite a bit of time fantasizing about a world where people were happy, hopeful, and hyper-efficient. It occurred to me that helping people become their best selves might just be the answer to all our problems.
Over time, this became the epic meaning & calling behind my life's work. I sincerely believe that the key to solving the world's most pressing problems begins with helping people get out of their own way. When individuals flourish, the people around them are inspired and uplifted. Communities can thrive, they come up with creative solutions, and a cascading effect carries their impact far and wide.
More than ever, people are seeking new ways to better themselves and are banding together to heal our communities and the planet. I believe that transforming the world begins with transforming ourselves.
So I decided to write about it. The snippet below is a sneak peak of my book: 'How to Manage, Master, and Manifest your Dream Life.' If you like what you see, please drop me a line. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
The world has just been shaken up— in more ways than one. It feels as though our planet has wavered. Developing nations struggle with hunger and disease. Pollution continues to poison our water and contaminate our air. Evolved countries are faced with mountainous debt, economic crisis, and diminishing levels of happiness. Many of our nations are incredibly polarized on issues that affect us all. People are battling the crippling stresses of life, facing financial difficulties, poor health, and shallow connections. There’s no doubt that the vibration of our planet has taken a nose dive.
If you feel overwhelmed and distracted in today’s world, you’re not alone. It’s easy to get swept up by frightening news headlines, battered by a never-ending list of to-dos, and mired by an overabundance of possibilities.
Fact of the matter is— we are multi-dimensional beings and we live in unprecedented times where there are so many aspects of our lives that we need to balance in order to be well. You must take care of your physical health, regulate your emotions, stay intellectually stimulated, progress along in your career, manage your finances, maintain a vibrant social life, keep your space tidy, and maybe pursue a spiritual path. Throw in some kids, pets, and errands— that’s enough to make anyone go bonkers.
It doesn’t help that we are bombarded with pings & dings and presented with countless choices as to how we spend our time. Companies are all vying for our time and using tactics to take hold of it. Controlling our attention and living with intention has become incredibly difficult.
This book stems from my personal frustration trying to manage all the moving parts of my life. I’ve often felt disoriented and scatter-brained; paralyzed by all the things I have to do and want to do. I realized that in the midst of all these events, and errands, and everything else that make up our day-to-day— it is often our goals and good habits that fall by the wayside because we’re just too busy, distracted, or disorganized.
Our chaotic state of mind is reflected by the chaotic state of our world. As above, so below. The situation seems dire and it’s all too easy to feel hopeless about the future. I’ve long felt powerless to enact change and make an impact in the world.
And then it dawned on me that I didn’t have to start with the whole world. I had to start with myself. I had to take care of my body, mind, and spirit and work diligently towards my goals if I wanted to create the life of my dreams. And if everyone could do that for themselves— if we were all on a path of growth & personal fulfillment— we could start to co-create the world of our dreams.
I’ve noticed that when people are living their best lives, they’re kind and compassionate. They see beyond themselves. They begin to overflow with love and gratitude, and it permeates all around them. They stop seeing the success of others as threatening. Success is not a finite resource. Someone else’s success doesn’t mean there is less success available for you.
Despite all our differences, most of us want the same thing in life. We want to be happy. But we’ll never find happiness in comparing ourselves to one another. Instead, we end up wasting our lives keeping tabs on other people and feeling envious of their seemingly perfect lives. In the process, we fail to discover our own unique path and live up to our true potential. This is why I believe it’s of utmost importance to put each and every person on their own path of personal development.
When we take time to replenish our spirit and improve our individual lives, we naturally move towards serving others and acting in alignment with the greater good. We must help people align their actions with their values and aspirations before they’re ready to forge alliances around shared goals. We need to get them to approach each day with deliberate forethought to ensure they’re working on the most important & essential things.
Think of how much time, energy, and effort people around the world spend hating & harming one another, or wasting it away on frivolous things. What if we could redirect that energy towards personal development, building each other up, and creating a better world? Of course, it’s easier said than done—but it may be our only hope.
The fate of humanity rests upon our ability to get our shit together. If we continue to take unintentional action in our personal lives and fail to work together to solve the pressing problems that plague our planet, the future doesn’t look so good. I refuse to resign our destiny to doom & gloom. I believe we can turn this ship around.
This book isn’t just about helping people get fit, manage stress, or stay organized. I see an opportunity to radically alter the trajectory of humankind by helping individuals take small steps towards being healthier, more eco-conscious, and more compassionate to one another. I believe the combination of tech, behavior change, and community could result in explosive, collective action that might just save the world.
And it starts with YOU. You could be part of catalyzing a flywheel effect where your small actions build positive momentum in your life. You’ll be joyful and at peace. Your good vibrations will spread to those around you. They’ll be inspired to make changes in their own life. That ripple effect continues outward until it becomes unstoppable. For the first time in history, it’s possible for a message or a movement to spread to every corner of the globe. The right message at the right time, met with the right receptivity… could change everything.
Though I’m painting a picture of a rather fanciful and idealistic outcome, the substance of this book is rather practical. It is a step-by-step guide to figuring out what you want to achieve in your life and developing systems that enable you to be consistent in taking action towards your goals.
So do it for just yourself. But also do it for humanity.
In order to actually pull this off, you’ll be required to do some inquisitive introspection, deep reflection, and a little dreaming. More than anything, it will demand that you do the work. I can’t help you if you don’t help yourself. You don’t have to do everything I suggest right away, but I do recommend that you experiment with some new strategies regularly. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.
When many of us approach personal development, we decide we’re going to turn over a new leaf and do everything differently. But this is often daunting and challenging— so we fail and feel bad. The key to sustained growth is starting small, building up, and being consistent & persistent.
This book meant to be digested slowly— I’d recommend tackling a chapter a week, although you should feel free to go at a pace that’s comfortable for you. It’s also an incredible series of exercises to do with others— a partner, friend, roommate, or parent. It will feel like personal development + group therapy at the same time.
So if you’re up for it, I welcome you to take this journey with me. We’ll cover 7 topics:
I’ll keep it short. It’s a quick read, but comes with quite a bit of work. This is not a silver bullet. It’s a golden opportunity to become your best self. You still have to show up for yourself though. Hope it helps and buckle in.
I'm inviting a select group of people to help me proofread and peer-edit the rest of the book. If you'd like to take part, send me a message about why you're interested!
I look forward to hearing from you :)
